Ultimate Human Potential
Is potential unlimited, or do we have our limits?
“Such great potential”.
But can potential be realised?
By that I mean, can one reach the full exhibition of their capabilities?
Can the great song/painting/building/mother/father within each of us ever manifest to the point where it can be no better?
Maybe after a meal cooked by your current significant other, you smack your lips together and give an Italian-style “ok” symbol of appreciation.
“Perfection darling, couldn’t be better”.
And maybe we mean it. But let’s be honest. This is rare.
There is nearly always a little, or even BIG, niggle in our experiences.
If only it was like this, or they had done this differently.
For some this is a positive thing, a heart-brimming indication of overwhelming possibility. unending chances for self-improvement up until our last breath.
On the contrary, especially in our current climate of competitiveness, it can be a cause of anxiety and depression. “Why bother? I’ll never be good enough.” Or even just an apathetic “It will do” amidst all the other concerns of modern life. “Who cares about my inner fulfilment and talents, I just need to find a way to keep up with the Jones, or even just put food on the table.
We try to satisfy ourselves in this world, and may adjust our mindset or belief system to accommodate for the dissatisfaction we inevitably face. “We wouldn’t appreciate the good without the bad”. However something inside struggles, gagged by stoicism and pride, to shout “I WANT MORE”, “I want to be better”, “I want to feel happy more than I do now”.
This is the sound of true potential, the mission of human life. To become perfect. Not externally or even internally in our mental equilibrium, but in our intention. Taking accountability for our consciousness, making our experience one of love and sharing, rather than selfishness and mindlessness.
